Pine Walk Europe Limited is an insurance intermediary based in Ireland.  Pine Walk Europe is mandated to write and manage insurance contracts in the name and on behalf of insurance undertakings.

Andy Ray

Andy has over thirty years’ experience in the surety industry, initially as Managing Director of College Hill Underwriters. Andy was instrumental in establishing the entry of Euler Hermes Guarantee (EHG) in the UK surety market ( as shareholding director). EHG became the largest provider of construction surety bonds in Europe with the London office contributing circa £15m revenue in 2007. Most recently Andy was Managing Director of Kerry London, one of the leading independent specialist surety brokers in the market (a division he established).

Ian Bailey

Ian brings over 20 years of underwriting experience to Perigon having specialised in product recall and contamination for the last 15 years. Prior to joining Perigon he was an Underwriter for Hiscox in one of the leading teams in the product recall space, having helped recreate the success enjoyed at Catlin who had written the largest book of recall and contamination business in the London Market. His first experience within recall was at AIG UK where he specialised in both recall/contamination and kidnap for ransom. Ian became ACII qualified in 2000.

Clive Washbourn

Clive has over 35 years’ experience in the Marine and Specialty Markets. Clive has stellar underwriting performance through all business cycles, and a reputation for building balanced portfolios and delivering upper-quartile results in the Lloyd’s Market. Clive is an admired practitioner in the London Market, most recently working as Head of Marine at Beazley.

Oliver Brown

Oliver has 20 years’ experience in the London insurance market, specialising in writing energy liability business on a lead basis. Oliver began his underwriting career at Zurich Global Energy where he spent 8 years developing the energy liability portfolio. He then moved to Catlin (now AXA XL) to create a brand-new energy liability offering, largely replicating what had been so successfully created at Zurich. Most recently he managed the energy liability portfolio at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance. Oliver holds an honours degree in Business Studies from Cardiff and became ACII qualified in 2005.

Kade Spears

Kade has 17 years’ experience in underwriting specialty insurance lines. Most recently, Kade was SCOR’s global line head for political and non-payment risks. He founded this team in 2013 and was named head of the syndicate’s specialty division in 2014. Kade was previously the head of the political and non-payment risks team at Aspen and started his career at Catlin. He holds an MA in International Relations and BSc in Business Administration.

Mark Esdaile

Before founding Itasca MGA, Mark joined Piiq Risk Partners in June 2020 to head up underwriting for the insurance backed aircraft finance business, Piiq iFLI. Mark started in the Political Risk and Structured Credits market in 2002 and has extensive experience working in this market over the last 20 years. Prior to joining Piiq iFLI, he managed the Asset Finance Credit Risk Solutions team and was Deputy Head of the Political & Financial Risk team at Sompo International (previously Endurance).

Rob Ashton

Rob has underwritten an array of specialty classes over almost twenty years as an underwriter. Rob was previously the Head of Specialty at Hiscox Re, part of Lloyd’s Syndicate 33, Hiscox. Rob is a market leader in cyber excess of loss treaty and a well-respected underwriter of political violence, personal accident, financial lines and nuclear reinsurance, as well as being the driving force behind the development of a portfolio of idiosyncratic treaty business around one-off, specialised classes of reinsurance and niche structures.

Valeria Del Villano

Valeria founded Novagen in August 2024 in partnership with Pine Walk. Valeria has over 15 years’ experience in the Renewable Energy insurance market, most recently as Head of International Renewables at AIG. Prior to this, Valeria was a Renewable Energy Class Underwriter at Novae Syndicate, where she originated the book.

Kelly Sanders

Kelly founded Seraphina in September 2024. Kelly has over 20 years’ experience, specialising in Property D&F and demonstrating a strong trading ability. Most recently, Kelly was a Senior Underwriter at Probitas and a Senior Underwriter at Fidelis. Prior to that Kelly held roles at Starstone, FM Global and Vero.

Jenan Nakeeb

Jenan has worked in the reinsurance industry for over 15 years, before co-founding Silverflame Re she managed a large and highly profitable multi-line specialty reinsurance portfolio at a London- based MGA . Her remit and responsibilities were for Marine & Energy, Credit & Surety, Aviation, Terrorism and Cyber reinsurance and retrocession, servicing a global client base. Jenan started her career in broking working across multi-line, and multi-territory products at Willis Re and was part of the Capsicum Re partnership prior to acquisition by AJ Gallagher.

She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Insurers and has a Masters in Global Finance from Cass Business School.

Elizabeth Powell

After completing the Aon Re graduate scheme, Elizabeth moved to the reinsurer side and has spent 16 years underwriting across multiple reinsurance lines. Her career has encompassed the company market during her tenure at Aspen Re underwriting Casualty treaty and then subsequently she moved into Lloyd’s where she developed Specialty expertise and structured an insurance/reinsurance follow portfolio at Canopius Managing Agency. Before co-founding Silverflame Re she built a multi-line Specialty portfolio at AEGIS London giving the platform access to the profitable treaty market post 2020.

She has a degree in Modern Languages, is a member of the Worshipful Company of Insurers and is a Chartered Insurer.

Jon Hiller

Jon founded Sevanta in 2025 in partnership with Pine Walk. Jon has over 20 years’ experience across Lloyd’s, London, and various International Casualty markets. His most recent position was SVP and Head of International Casualty in the London Market for Sompo. Prior to this, working at QBE Europe, Chubb, JLT, and AIG.

Rinku Patel

Rinku is an ICAEW qualified accountant having trained with BDO and moving to Andersen.  Rinku was CFO/COO of DUAL, CFO of Howden and Director of Finance at Hyperion before consulting in 2016/7 supporting a number of businesses in the intermediary space.  Industry Experience includes Software Development, Information businesses and Insurance (at DUAL, Howden and Hyperion).

Rinku founded Pine Walk in 2017 with Fidelis Group, as an MGA incubator, raised finance for Pine Walk and Radius and has since set up a further 10 MGAs.

Tom Lawson

Tom qualified as an ACCA accountant at Reed Business Information and for the past 10+ years has focused on finance and information roles in insurance and MGA businesses. In 2010 he joined DUAL International as Group Financial Controller, consolidating the financial accounts and insurance data of multiple international businesses. Tom joined Pine Walk Capital in 2018 and built out the financial and insurance reporting systems for Pine Walk and the MGAs. Today he oversees the data, systems and reporting across the Pine Walk MGA Platform.

Nigel Lee

For 30+ years Nigel has held director level compliance and operations roles for regulated entities in the Lloyd’s, London Company and Hong Kong insurance markets. Joining Pine Walk in January 2018, Nigel has embedded our operational, compliance and control frameworks that are in place across Pine Walk and our underlying MGA businesses. Nigel holds a Master’s degree in Insurance and Risk Management from Bayes Business School, and he is a Fellow of the CII.

Pearly Ng

Pearly qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG. She has extensive experience in financial planning, accounting, controls and strategy implementation. Prior to joining Pine Walk, Pearly held several positions at DUAL including European Financial Controller and interim Head of Finance Transformation, working to deliver excellent services to stakeholders across the spectrum.

Robert Kelly

Robert is PWE CEO & CFO. Robert joined Fidelis Insurance in September 2018. With over 18 years experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry, Robert was most recently at PartnerRe where he worked for 5 years in various finance roles including Head of External Reporting and as CFO of PartnerRe’s insurance entity. Robert began his career with PwC Dublin before transferring to their London office, working in the Global Capital Markets Group. He joined Aviva from PwC, working in Group Finance in London and managing their reinsurance captive in Dublin. He is a fellow of the Chartered Accountants of Ireland, qualifying in 2004.

Simon Crone

Simon is Group Director of Underwriting Operations and EEA CUO at The Fidelis Partnership. Simon joined Fidelis Insurance in 2019 from AmTrust where he was the Chief Underwriting Officer for the Mortgage & Credit division. Simon has over 20 years of experience in insurance in a variety of roles ranging from underwriting to operations to project management. Previously he was at General Electric and Genworth Financial. Simon holds a Masters of Engineering from the University of Cape Town.
